Whoever’s speaking: Ask one open-ended question. Then stop talking.

Whoever’s listening: Answer at your own pace. Include feelings, not just facts.

You’ll know the step landed when: First answer given.

03:00-05:00

Whoever’s speaking: Ask one follow-up from genuine curiosity. Reflect one thing learned.

Whoever’s listening: Answer or clarify. Correct if misunderstood.

You’ll know the step landed when: Depth added.

05:00-06:00

Whoever’s speaking: Share one appreciation for the answer.

Whoever’s listening: Receive. Do not minimize your answer.

You’ll know the step landed when: Warmth maintained.

06:00-10:00

Whoever’s speaking: Switch roles: answer while your partner asks.

Whoever’s listening: Ask one open-ended question and one follow-up.

You’ll know the step landed when: Second partner explored.

10:00-13:00

Whoever’s speaking: Each asks one deeper follow-up based on what was just heard.

Whoever’s listening: Answer or pass. Respect pace.

13:00-15:00
